This week, the committee tasked with raising money for the Jacobs Plaza de Panama Project officially dissolved. They blamed lack of support by Councilman Chris Ward for a revised 2 phase project--essentially "let us build a parking garage and ruin the bridge but we won't do any of the other things we promised to fix the park." Kind of exactly what SDSU is now doing with the stadium site.

Tucked away in the heart of Kensington lies one of San Diego’s best kept secrets, Singing Serpent Studios. Singing Serpent is a recording studio that doesn’t necessarily focus on making albums (though it does boast a very impressive list), but rather specializes in crafting original music and sound design for commercials. Their extensive list of clientele includes brands such as Google, Nike, SafeAuto, Jack Daniels, Volkswagen, and many others.

Apparently the Observatory North Park was quite the scene on Wednesday night as headlining performer XXXTentacion was sucker punched on stage while performing. According to various accounts on social media, the alleged perpetrator was San Diego based rapper Rob $tone (or someone from his crew. Apparently they've had a beef brewing for quite some time. I was not at this show.

Things To Do In San Diego: Wednesday, April 26-Sunday, April 30, 2017 In case you haven't noticed, I've been trying to post a lot more frequently. Part of it is that my new laptop is so much more pleasurable to use. My last one had broken hinges that would make my screen fall when I worked, the mouse pad stopped working so I had to use an external mouse, and certain keys would stick, slowing my typing down to pure frustration.

KSON's Countryfest is at the same location a few weeks prior, it's possible that this is a package deal with lower overhead than the pier which allows for such awesome bands at such a low price ($18 if you missed out on the $9.49 tickets). Sometimes I feel guilty that I haven't been posting as frequently, or that I haven't been posting videos and photos and stuff. And then I remember that there are only 24 hours in a day, and I look at the rest of the month and my mind kind of explodes. Busy is an understatement. But holy shit! Look at all this amazing stuff to look forward to for the rest of the month. I've bolded the shows I know I'll be at, working or otherwise.

Aaaand exhale. Last night was our last concert at The North Park Theatre until New Year's Eve, and John Waters is going to be an easy peasy performance night, so I can get back to focusing on closing out the year with the Casbah and of course we have a huge SoundDiego party tonight with Mariachi El Bronx. It's first come, first served and you have to have RSVP'ed, so I hope to see lots of my beautiful friends there tonight.

The year has nearly come to an end, literally and also when it comes to looking for touring bands to visit San Diego. This happens each and every year but has an upside since local bands bridge the gap until the tour cycle renews itself in 2013. Three of San Diego's best will be gathering this Friday at the Belly Up in Solana Beach. Headlining will be none other than North County's alt-rockers Dead Feather Moon.

I dug through the archives for this old photo of me and Brian Aubert of Silversun Pickups. It was taken at the Open Air Theatre a few years ago. I've been a fan for a long time now and have been lucky to see the band live several times as well as some cool meet and greets and such and I just think they're rad people, but yesterday's email from their publicist really made me smile. I haven't commented too much on this year's election, but of course I'm paying attention.
