Keen on Being Green: Selecting a Diesel Particulate Filter System
Have you ever noticed a beautiful white yacht with black marks or streaks on the sides? Or maybe a new 100-meter yacht leaving an oily sheen on the water at a pristine marina? This particulate matter (PM), often called “soot,” is the byproduct of an incomplete fuel combustion. Like the black plume of smoke that a big rig truck expels when accelerating, this soot is also present on diesel engines for marine applications.
CAT C18 Acert 1150 v Scania D116 076M 1150
Discussion in 'Engines' started by Marcus Hogg, . You need to be registered and signed in to view this content. I am currently working on specifying a new 55' Sportfisher, the two engine options I am considering are the C18 and the D116. I have previously had CAT's, without any issues, however Scania's offering is attractive. They are cheaper, servicing is cheaper, fuel economy is 12% better at cruise.
| Abu Dhabi Mar | 141M |"YAS" ex. Swift 141 | 2011 |
I think we can see construction pics of one of the new Swift yachts in build by the Abu Dhabi Mar company. They are located in the gallery section of the website. Also since acquiring Nobiskrug and controling influence in French builder CMN,they are trying to have majority ownership of Blohm and Voss also? The first superyacht from them to be launched will be the Swift 141-meter followed by the 135-meter. Abu Dhabi Mar is building superyachts up to 200-meters long.
What are YOU doing?
Kelly, since I bought the Canon G9, I never use my smaller or the bigger DSLR cameras. It is really good. This morning I have to go to my mothers house and repair her water pump, in the gale winds, then back here to draw up some remaining things for our 34-footer in build, like the dashboard. I wanted to postpone this to see what´s new in plotters and now I know. The boat should be finished in late October...
Trimarans and the BladeRunner...
Time to ruffle some feathers around here. (it's the only way to draw in lurkers!) I'm on the fence with this one guys. I've been keeping quiet on this thread for some time, but I've got some very definitive thoughts on this subject. Aspects of this hull design have merit and stand on sound principles. I KNOW this hull works in smooth water. But I have reservations about it's rough water capability.
