What was your first job as a journalist?

Freelancing for a local website, covering topics such as homelessness, poverty and gentrification.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes! Not professionally as a journalist, but once in a play.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

History books, search engines, email/phone calls, FOIA/public record request templates, Word, Adobe Suite, PGP, coffee, cigarettes

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter -- the fights are always fun.

Why did you become a journalist?

Expose problems in our society to motivate much-needed social, political and economic change.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Probably my profile on an underground abortionist in northern California and northern Nevada.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Always!

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Reading at a coffee shop or at home.
