Kipsang Joseph’s Biography

I am an accomplished multimedia journalist and photojournalist passionate about capturing compelling African narratives through visual storytelling.

With nearly a decade of experience, I have built a strong reputation for documenting diverse stories including wildlife, conservation, climate change, environment, science, culture, education, sports, politics, conflict, and human-interest stories.

As a journalist with Standard Group PLC, my work appears in The Standard Newspaper, Standard Digital, KTN News, Radio Maisha, and Berur FM, where I also produce radio features for Kalenjin-speaking audiences.

I have covered major regional and international assignments including the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN), jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, where I contributed photography, television camera work, and multimedia reporting. I have also extensively covered the World Rally Championship (Safari Rally), producing high-impact sports photography and field-based storytelling.

My work has been recognized nationally through multiple awards:

Photojournalist of the Year (2026, AMEA)
Photographer of the Year (2025, Nakuru Journalists Association Gala Awards)
Winner, Sports & Action Photography (Nation Photo Awards, 2024)
First Runner-Up, Sports & Action Photography (Nation Photo Awards, 2024)
First Runner-Up, Sports Reporting (Media Council of Kenya AJEA, 2023)

Beyond newsroom reporting, I serve as Chairman of the Training & Mentorship Committee at the Nakuru Journalists Association, where I contribute to journalist capacity building and professional development. I also serve as Board of Management Chairman at Koyorus Primary and Junior Secondary School in Baringo County, contributing to education governance and community leadership.

Through my work, I aim to use journalism not only to inform but also to document change, amplify community voices, and strengthen public understanding of critical environmental and social issues.
