My first job was as an assistant editor at Investment Profiles, a startup national magazine for stock brokers.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, but as I entered college, the "word processor" was becoming popular and eventually the computer became the mainstay of writing.
How is social media changing news?
First, it is now the primary way people come to news stories. And it also adds many more voices to the news. Both have pros and cons.

Why did you become a journalist?
I felt like i was a good writer and enjoyed asking questions and getting answers to things I'm curious about.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes. I was the sports editor.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
At CFO I wrote a long and intently researched article on the financial aspects of college sports called Money Bowl.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Be tenacious and pursue every lead relentlessly. Also be creative, within the law and rules, to pursue leads and information.
