Joseph Rallo serves as the Chief Executive Officer at E.F. Hutton & Co. and its predecessor firm, which he brought back to life in May 2020. Under his leadership, the company became the most prolific IPO underwriter by deal volume in 2022 and early 2023. With over 20 years of experience in investment banking, Rallo has completed more than 500 transactions, raising over $60 million in proceeds. His ability to adapt to changing markets, lead through pressure, and maintain a client-centered approach has defined his career.
Rallo’s professional journey began during his university years, when he interned as a Summer Analyst in Equity Derivatives at Lehman Brothers. After graduation, he spent a decade as Vice President in the Financial Institutions and Real Estate Investment Banking Group at Citizens JMP Securities. He later advanced to become Co-Head of Global Investment Banking at Aegis Capital Group. His consistent focus on excellence and accountability led him to establish E.F. Hutton, where his leadership continues to shape the firm’s success.
Throughout his career, Rallo has followed a distinct leadership philosophy built on six guiding principles: model the behavior you expect, mentor and invest in junior colleagues, prioritize open communication, set clear expectations, delegate with intent, and manage time with purpose. He believes authentic leadership requires a strong moral compass and an unwavering sense of integrity. By combining discipline and mentorship, he has cultivated a workplace culture of collaboration and growth.
Joseph Rallo's leadership style is marked by innovation and responsiveness. He approaches each challenge as an opportunity to learn and improve, fostering confidence among his teams and clients. His emphasis on ethical decision-making has helped maintain trust and reliability across all business relationships.
In 2020, amid the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, Rallo co-founded E.F. Hutton, a broker-dealer headquartered in Manhattan. The firm provides advisory and financing solutions to corporations, sponsors, and public-private partnerships. Rallo and his leadership team worked strategically to scale operations, using digital collaboration tools to ensure continuity and productivity during remote work transitions. Their commitment to consistency, predictability, and client satisfaction helped E.F. Hutton strengthen its market position and maintain stability through volatility.
Rallo’s expertise covers a wide range of financial services, including initial public offerings (IPOs), special-purpose acquisition (SPAC) offerings, follow-on offerings, registered direct placements, mergers and acquisitions (M&As), fixed-income placements, debt capital markets, leveraged financing, restructuring and recapitalization, asset-backed finance, financial sponsor coverage, private funding rounds, and hedging and risk management.
Joe Rallo earned his Bachelor of Arts in Finance from the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business. While attending Notre Dame, he played on the Men’s Division 1 Lacrosse team and became a four-time Monogram Winner, lettering every year he competed. He also co-founded and served as Finance Chairman of the Irish Fighting for St. Jude Kids, a collegiate fundraising organization.
In addition to his degree, Rallo holds FINRA Series 24, 63, and 79 licenses. These credentials qualify him to supervise investment banking activities, conduct securities transactions across states, and advise on mergers, acquisitions, public offerings, private placements, and corporate restructuring.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Rallo and his wife are dedicated philanthropists. They support initiatives focused on education, healthcare, and cultural exchange, including programs that help HIV/AIDS-affected families in Africa and India, fund childhood cancer research, and support vulnerable communities in Serbia.
Rallo serves on several nonprofit boards, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Lang Lang International Music Foundation, and the Rousseau Foundation. He has also contributed to Make-A-Wish America and Keep a Child Alive (KCA), which aim to improve children’s lives through compassion and care.
Despite a demanding career, Joseph Rallo prioritizes his family and personal well-being. He starts his day early, around 4:00 a.m., to organize his schedule and create time for his children and wife. Regular exercise helps him stay focused and balanced. Rallo lives with his family in New York City, continuing to lead with humility, integrity, and a deep commitment to his work and community.
