What was your first job as a journalist?
My first job as a journalist was working for my highschool yearbook. I took photos, and wrote stories. I was paid $100 total.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Only briefly, but just for fun to feel what it was like to use one!
How is social media changing news?
Social media changes news by providing a way for instant viewing to a near infinite amount of people.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
My favorite fictional journalist is April O'Neil
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Being a journalist is about telling a story, providing information, and conveying emotions to the reader.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I love when good work is recognized and given a new chance to flourish in ways it wasn't able to before.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Emaki CMS, Wordpress, Google Suite, Google Analytics, LinkedIn, Manufacturer newsrooms
What's your favorite social network?
My favorite social network is Instagram. It's easy to use and a great way to connect with the communities I'm involved in.
Who do you wish followed you?
Larry Chen. We've had the chance to meet a few times, but never on a professional level.
Why did you become a journalist?
I wanted to tell the stories of the people around me in a way that is more genuine and pure.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Not the newspaper, but the yearbook. I took nearly all the photos and wrote a few stories.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I was able to track down a local legend in the car community, photograph, and talk about him and his car. Thank you Pete!
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Don't lose sight of why you started in the first place. It is easy to fall into a boring routine, stay curious and stay hungry,

Any time! I am always open to hearing from people.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
"We are launching our articles to boost the site traffic and are paying a large sum for longer reviews, are you interested?"
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
"Would you like to write articles for $15 a piece? Our current team is looking for new talent and we start low so you can work your way up!"
What's your favorite drink?
My favorite drink is an unsweetened green tea. It is calming, and simple.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
In the garage working on my car and motorcycle, and then out driving them! It really is cars 24/7
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
My favorite publication has, and always will be Speedhunters. It is what inspired me to start this career.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
The most common misperception is that I'm sporadic, when everything is calculated in my head.
