What was your first job as a journalist?
During my undergrad, I wrote gaming news for TrueAchievements.com in my spare time. It's still my favorite website.
How is social media changing news?
Both written and video news are now able to easily and casually reach a global audience. The publishing barrier has been diminished.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To responsibly and accurately identify, interpret, and report news to a relevant audience.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
WordPress, Asana, Slack, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Pixlr, etc.
What's your favorite social network?
Xbox Live
Why did you become a journalist?
I have a knack for writing, an analytical mind, professional training as a researcher, and a passion for video games; I simply combined them.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Always cite your sources and attribute proper credit.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Playing the latest and greatest video game, or an older one that nobody cares about but me.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?
In the mainstream, people often dismiss games as childish and underestimate the impact of video games as an art form and creative outlet.
