Do You Have the Wanderlust Gene?
Around this time of year, depending where you are, you might see geese flying in formation overhead, headed to warmer climes for the winter. We all know that countless creatures have a biological impulse that compels them to migrate, and that many of them undergo physical changes when the time comes to move. But what about humans—are we also programmed to travel?
The time for free movement is upon us...

Freedom: The Case For Open Borders|eBook
Joss Sheldon is a scruffy nomad, unchained free-thinker, and post-modernist radical. Born in 1982, he was brought up in one of the anonymous suburbs which wrap themselves around London's beating heart. Then he escaped! With a degree from the London School of Economics to his name, Sheldon had spells selling falafel at music festivals, being a ski-bum, and failing to turn the English Midlands into a haven of rugby league.
Other Worlds Were Possible ebook by Joss Sheldon - Rakuten Kobo
THE STATUS QUO IS JUST A PASSING PHASE! Sunny and his kinfolk were content with their way of life. During the dry season, their clan lived alone. They hunted whenever they chose, gathered an array of plants, told stories, and took part in debates. In the rainy season, they united with the rest of their tribe. They formed a temporary city, feasted, held dances and played games. They could have lived like this forever. But a strange and foreign people had ideas of their own...
Other Worlds Were Possible
Review by Howard G, Reviewer Last updated on 16 Jan 2023 Joss Sheldon’s latest novel, “Other Worlds Were Possible” traces the coming of age of Sunny, a young member of the Eagle clan who, along with his kinsfolk, lived a blissful existence: Hunting only when they needed to, gathering enough plants to feed their families, telling stories, and engaging in spirited conversation.
Democracy
They say we live in a democracy. We are free, and we should be grateful. But just how “free” are we? How democratic are our so-called “democracies”? Is it enough to simply elect our leaders and sit back, helpless, as they rule over us like dictators? What good is selecting our politicians, if we cannot control our media, police, or soldiers?
2. DEMOCRATIC EDUCATION (IN UNDER 1000 WORDS)
In the second of three blogs released alongside his new book, “DEMOCRACY: A User’s Guide”, Joss Sheldon takes a look at the democratic schools... Education! It has the force to do so much good — to inform and inspire, encourage people to think for themselves, and prepare youngsters for adulthood. It should, at its very best, help citizens to become active participants in fully-functioning democracies — able to access information, tell fact from fiction, and make good decisions at the ballot box.
1. THE HISTORY OF DEMOCRACY (IN UNDER 1000 WORDS)
In the first of three blogs released alongside his new book, "DEMOCRACY: A User's Guide", Joss Sheldon takes a turbo-charged tour through the history of democracy... In the beginning, we were all hunter-gatherers. Living in bands of twenty or thirty souls, it was hard for a single individual to lord it over the group like some sort of king or dictator. Though individuals tried, they lacked the means to secure their rule.

What good is selecting our politicians, if we cannot control our media, police or soldiers? If we must blindly follow our teachers' and bosses' commands, whilst at school and in the workplace, is it not a little naïve to believe that we are the masters of our own destinies?
2. THE "SELF-MADE" DELUSION
Blog 2 of 3 in the INDIVIDUTOPIA series. You will have probably have heard of entrepreneurs who, blowing their own trumpet, describe themselves as "Self-made", or perhaps "Self-sufficient". Alan Sugar is the king when it comes to making such statements. The millionaire presenter of The Apprentice regularly describes himself as "Self-made". He once told Best You Magazine he was "Determined...
1. FREE-MARKET FUNDAMENTALISM GONE MAD
Blog 1 of 3 in the INDIVIDUTOPIA series. We live in a neoliberal era. And neoliberalism, in case you’re unaware, is dangerously ideological. This belief states that the private sector is always efficient, even when it is not. The public sector is never efficient, even when it is. Greed is always good, even when it isn’t. And the state shouldn’t interfere with the market, even when it should.
