Council Post: Leveraging AI/ML In Supplier Selection: A Comprehensive Approach
Joydeb Mandal is the Director of Inspirage (acquired by Accenture). A relationship between a company and its suppliers is fundamental to its success. In fact, McKinsey found that companies whose supply base uses the best the market offers can see a 5% to 10% lower cost position and 20% to 50% less exposure to some key risks. When done manually, however, finding the right suppliers—even a single supplier for a critical component—can take months.
Procurement strategy: Managing Scope 3 emission suppliers for a sustainable…
In the global push toward sustainability, businesses are increasingly being called to take responsibility not just for their direct operations (Scope 1) and energy consumption (Scope 2), but also for the environmental impacts associated with their broader value chains (Scope 3). Scope 3 emissions refer to the indirect emissions that occur throughout the value chain, including those generated by suppliers, product use, and end-of-life disposal.
Oxygen inhibition of free-radical polymerization is the dominant mechanism behind the “mold effect” on hydrogels

Exploring the roles of roughness, friction and adhesion in discontinuous shear thickening by means of thermo-responsive particles
Abstract Dense suspensions of colloidal or granular particles can display pronounced non-Newtonian behaviour, such as discontinuous shear thickening and shear jamming. The essential contribution of particle surface roughness and adhesive forces confirms that stress-activated frictional contacts can play a key role in these phenomena.
Modulation of Surface-Initiated ATRP by Confinement: Mechanism and Applications
The mechanism of surface-initiated atom transfer polymerization (SI-ATRP) of methacrylates in confined volumes is systematically investigated by finely tuning the distance between a grafting surface and an inert plane by means of nanosized patterns and micrometer thick foils. The polymers were synthesized from monolayers of photocleavable initiators, which allow the analysis of detached brushes by size-exclusion chromatography (SEC).
Physical Networks of Metal-Ion-Containing Polymer Brushes Show Fully Tunable Swelling and Nanomechanical and Nanotribological Properties
The interaction between weak polyacid brushes and metal ions can lead to the formation of a wide variety of complex structures across the polymer grafts. In the case of poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate) brushes derivatized with succinate side groups (PHEMA-SA), the coordination with Zn2+ or Ca2+ species can be tuned by varying the solution pH, below and above the pK of the polyacid brush.
