What was your first job as a journalist?

I was a ghost writer for a very large magazine.

Yes.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

I don't know.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

If the reader can close their eyes and "see" the story you're sharing, then you're a journalist.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

There are more great stories off the beaten path than there are on the paved road. Ask! You never know, the answer might just be yes!

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Various.

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter.

Who do you wish followed you?

No one in particular.

Why did you become a journalist?

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but a great story can be told a million ways.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Yes I did. I wrote a weekly column and covered school football games.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

There are many.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Connect with the subject / story. If you're not invested on some level then your just reporting.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Weekdays are best between 9-4.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

Guest editor for the Mustang Club of America.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

"No one else was interested so I thought I'd try you."

What's your favorite drink?

Water.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

With family.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

Newspapers.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

All I cover is Ford. I cover them all! Ford /Chevy / Mopar. I even cover the networks that produce those great car related programs!
