Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

My summer 2022 VICE Motherboard internship in Brooklyn, NY! Kickstarted my whole career in sophomore year of college.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes! My dad has one in the basement.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Tom Tucker from Family Guy.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Public service. Find the truth and present it to as many people as possible, so that they can make their own educated decisions.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Laptop! GSuite, Spotify or YouTube for background noise.

What's your favorite social network?

I'm trying my best to stop doomscrolling, actually, so I've deleted everything except LinkedIn. ...so, LinkedIn.

Why did you become a journalist?

I'm a horrible gossip, so I figure, why not do what I love professionally?

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I wrote one item for my high school newspaper, during our 2020 COVID graduation issue: an essay about how I learned to appreciate language.

What's your favorite drink?

Peach Monster.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Powerlifting, napping, or maybe hiking somewhere if I have enough time.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

POLITICO! And this doesn't count as reading, but the Global News Podcast from the BBC World Service.
