Education and training on gender diversity should be mandatory for all those entering the nursing profession. A zero-tolerance policy for gender discrimination should be implemented within the nursing profession and in all healthcare practices. Nursing staff should be encouraged to display their pronouns on a name badge or within their email signature to highlight the presence of gender diversity.

Needs of informal caregivers of people with a rare disease: a rapid review of the literature

Results General description of the literature Sources initially identified from each database were as follows: MEDLINE n=6, Embase n=6, Web of Science n=62, OpenGrey n=0 and GreyLit n=0. The screening process resulted in 30 documents which were reviewed based on their titles and abstracts. Following the screening 5 duplicate papers were removed and 25 papers were identified for full-text screening. Further studies were identified by searching the reference lists.

Carer reported experiences: Supporting someone with a rare disease

Abstract This exploratory study aimed to gain an understanding of carer reported experiences derived specifically from persons caring for someone with a rare disease. The survey took place online on the SmartSurvey platform from November 2019 to January 2020. The facilitated workshop took place in Bangor Carnegie Library, Northern Ireland. To be eligible to participate in the online survey respondents had to be adults caring for someone with a rare disease.
