We read with great interest the Comment by Manuel Ángel Gómez-Ríos and André A J Van Zundert1 advocating for videolaryngoscopy as the universal default for tracheal intubation. We fully concur with the authors regarding the substantial body of evidence supporting videolaryngoscopy's superiority in first-pass success and overall patient safety.
We read with great interest the article by Drugeon and colleagues.1 quantifying non-indicated peripheral intravenous catheter (PIVC) insertions across 81 French EDs. Beyond identifying prevalence, this study reveals two underexplored dimensions warranting further discussion. First, the organisational determinants identified — particularly low nurse-to-patient ratios — deserve interpretation through a human factors lens.
