CFTR mediates Cl - transport in osteocytes to sustain cell viability and skeletal homeostasis
Abstract Osteocytes are long-lived with underlying mechanisms largely unknown. Here, we report that osteocyte-specific knockout of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) results in excessive osteocyte death, proinflammatory cytokine surge, osteoclast overactivation and bone formation impairment leading to bone loss in adult mice. Consistently in MLO‑Y4 osteocyte‑line, CFTR-knockout causes progressive cell death, which is reversed by CFTR overexpression or medium replenishment.
The Versatile Role of RNA N6‐Methyladenosine (m6A) in Plant Resistance to Biotic Stress
1 Introduction Biotic stress is largely responsible for the deterioration of agricultural production and food security worldwide (Fones et al. 2020). Microbial diseases and pests are the main contributors to biotic stress, causing dramatic loss in food production. The gravity of this problem has been exposed by the FAO, which estimates that pests and diseases cost the agricultural sector $220 billion annually.
Cost-benefit analysis across smallholder rice farmers reveals that existing fertilization practices severely compromise their income
Abstract Modernizing agricultural practices of smallholder farmers can increase considerably global food produce. Smallholder farmers are, nevertheless, often unwilling to adopt practices unfamiliar to them. Increases in the cost of fertilizers, can nonetheless render existing practices unsustainable, raising concerns of food injustice. We addressed here the potential to which we can increase yield through popularizing existing best practice agricultural approaches.
Thermally and Photothermally Triggered Cytocompatible Triple-Shape-Memory Polymer Based on a Graphene Oxide-Containing Poly(ε-caprolactone) and Acrylate Composite
Shape memory polymers (SMPs) are a class of smart materials that, in their most basic one-way instantiation, can be deformed into a temporary shape and later recover to a permanent shape in response to an external stimulus.

Context‐dependent plant responses to arbuscular mycorrhiza mainly reflect biotic experimental settings
Mutualistic associations that plant roots form with soil-borne fungi of the phylum Glomeromycota, termed arbuscular mycorrhizas (AM; in the text we often refer to them as mycorrhizas), are among the most ubiquitous symbioses across terrestrial ecosystems (Brundrett & Tedersoo, 2018).
