The Classic Horror Film Board-The Beast Within (1982)
Feb 06, 2022#12022-02-06T21:09+00:00 The Beast Within (1982) Article 6043 by Dave Sindelar Date: 2-6-2022 Directed by Philippe Mora Featuring Ronnie Cox, Bibi Besch, Paul Clemens Country: USA What it is: Doesn't quite work thanks to editing A woman is raped by something or someone in the woods. Seventeen years later, her son begins undergoing a physical change. Is this the result of the earlier event? This was one of those movies whose ad campaigns I remember from the time it was released.

The Classic Horror Film Board-"HELP ME. I'M POSSESSED" (1974)
We've updated our Privacy Policy and by continuing you're agreeing to the updated terms. Share with: Link: 162164 I'm creating a thread for this gloriously messed-up mad-scientist movie. There's so much wrong happening in this shabby no-budget gem that bad circles around to being good again.
The Classic Horror Film Board-SHOCK CINEMA
Who else reads SHOCK CINEMA? Since it's one of the best mags out there, and since its title might fool you into thinking it's about, oh, I dunno, GORE films or something, I thought it deserves its own thread, even if no one replies! Besides having some of the best interview subjects and interviewers around (the current issue features character actor Ed Lauter and the one and only Jim Kelly, for instance), the reviews by publisher/editor Steve Puchalski and company are rude, crude, and hilarious.
The Classic Horror Film Board-Peggy Sue Got Married (1986)
Peggy Sue Got Married (1986) Hollywood loves trends as much as anyone else, and so it’s not surprising to see another time travel to the 50s story so soon after Back to The Future (1985), but where those films relied on traditional science fictional hardware (and adventure based aspects,) the sensibilities here resemble more those of The Twilight Zone’s.
The Classic Horror Film Board-Did Lugosi call the East Side Kids scum?
We've updated our Privacy Policy and by continuing you're agreeing to the updated terms. Share with: Link: Member 1,8321,019 I remember reading on the old IMDB boards that supposedly he asked about his experience working with them and he replied they were scum. The person who claimed it didn't provide a source, so does anyone recall hearing this or did Bela ever speak of about his experience working on the two films he did with them?
The Classic Horror Film Board-Dragnet and Joe Friday. Just the facts, ma'am!
I've begun a new job which requires getting up at 5:30. One of the things I do is eat an early breakfast while watching episodes of Dragnet 1969 on MeTV. My family used to follow this show faithfully, and I do it now out of nostalgia...but also a strange fascination with star Jack Webb. Webb played Sgt. Joe Friday, a "no nonsense" Los Angeles cop who is one step away from being zombified. His delivery is flat and laughingly dead-panned, like a parody.
The Classic Horror Film Board-Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama (1988)
It's a movie about a couple of sorority babes who just happen to be in a slimeball bowl-o-rama. Saw it on television years ago. Silly, campy movie. The evil jinn granting wishes with a twist was fun. Linnea Quigley does well as tough girl Spider. One wonders if that was a reference to the Spider character from THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD (1985). Saw the film years later uncensored. Surprised at the nudity.
The Classic Horror Film Board-Eyes of Laura Mars (1978)
Member 7,7701,819 Eyes of Laura Mars (1978) Another of those films I first read their spoof In MAD Magazine, but which I avoided for decades because of noncommittal and lukewarm reviews. Today it's mostly forgotten by the genre literature.

The Classic Horror Film Board-REVENGE OF BIGFOOT (1970)
As far as I know, there isn't yet a dedicated thread to this rarity, so in light of recent events I am starting one here. The film has been discussed in threads on lost films and on Bigfoot movies. Probably some CHFB members are already aware the son of the director of REVENGE OF BIGFOOT has made available for screening a 65 minute print which is only missing some end footage.

If anyone is an expert on the measuring of time, Robert ought to be. Plenty of great credits to choose from to watch: his 'Maverick' episodes; his Three Stooges movie; MACABRE; his Mission: Impossible appearance; "Amazon Women on the Moon"; a Time Tunnel marathon; his Perry Mason episodes, etc. etc. etc.
The Classic Horror Film Board-THE SORCERERS (1967)
I've just managed to see this film after years of searching, and it's more or less lived up to the invented version that's been unspooling in my coconut all this time. It seems that famed but disgraced hypnotist Professor Marcus Monserrat - no doubt you've heard of him - has invented a machine that can allow him and his wife-slash-assistant Estelle to hypnotize a subject to the point of continued and remote control.

The Classic Horror Film Board-‘The Movie Is Better Than The Book. Fight me.’
Apologies in advance. I know there have been many MANY discussions here over the years along the lines of the old ‘Book! Movie!’ debate. As I was having my morning coffee, I was suddenly struck by this BRILLIANT, absolutely IRREFUTABLE observation about one particular Book vs Movie comparison that I need to share with my CHFB brothers and sisters. Couldn’t find an appropriate thread to dump it in, so I’m starting a new one.

Share with: Link: 21K8,164 I'm looking at this Fox musical from 1937 starring George Murphy and a bunch of well known character actors and comics, and there is this stinky comedy team called The Three Sailors. Checking IMDB it looks like the comics in it only appeared in this movie. They slap each other a lot. They are like a combo of the Stooges and the Ritz Brothers. But lousier than either team.

The Classic Horror Film Board-Die Nibelungen, Teil 1 - Siegfried (1966)
14K14,451 Excellent first part of the saga directed by Harald Reinl and starring Karin Dor as Queen Brunhild who falls in love with Siegfried, played by Uwe Beyer, but he loves Kriemhild the king's sister, played by Maria Marlow. Siegfried helps the king of Burgandy, played by Rolf Henniger, win the competition against Brunhild by using his invisibility cloak, thus she must marry him but her magic chastity belt won't let the king deflower her, so he again asks for Siegfried help.

The Classic Horror Film Board-Unconvincing Stunt Men
I was watching a crime movie with Lloyd Bridges and John Hoyt and the stunt man used for the Hoyt in his fist fight with Bridges has got to be the most unlike Hoyt guy they could find. The movie was called Trapped from 1949 and wasn't bad as Bridges is a counterfeit man who escapes from prison and Hoyt the federal agent posing as a crook. Barbara Payton as Lloyd's girlfriend is hot. Guy with dark hair on right is supposed to be Hoyt 2 people like this post See who reacted to this post

The Classic Horror Film Board-Halloween Rant
I need to vent. I love Halloween and everything that comes with it: decorations, spooky things, store displays, the autumn weather, and of course movies. Today I finally had some time to go out and get some candy for trick r' treaters and to get some extra special goodies for my young nieces. So I started off at Big Lots. One small isle of about ten decorations spread out and nothing further for Halloween. But they did have a huge Christmas display.
