Self-hosted WAF without Docker — Caddy + Coraza + CRS in one binary
If you already reverse-proxy with Caddy (or you’re tired of ModSecurity glue), there’s a boring option that works well on a single VPS: put OWASP CRS in front of your apps and keep the ops surface small. This post is the path I use when I want app-layer filtering (SQLi/XSS/scanners) without a compose stack.
Docker WAF vs single-binary WAF — how I choose for a single VPS
Homelab and small-prod threads keep landing on the same question: “I want a self-hosted WAF. SafeLine/Docker, or something smaller?” There’s no universal winner. Here’s the decision frame I use after running both styles. Two honest shapes Examples: SafeLine, BunkerWeb-style stacks, ModSecurity-in-compose. Wins Polished dashboards Familiar deploy (docker compose up) Often opinionated defaults for homelab Costs More containers, volumes, upgrades Another network path to reason about Host already busy?

Frontiers | Endovascular reperfusion followed by delayed open aortic repair in stable acute type A aortic dissection with malperfusion syndrome: a single-center experience
Introduction Acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) is a life-threatening cardiovascular disease with high short-term morbidity and mortality. The mortality rate increases by 1–2% per hour in the first 48 h, resulting in a mortality rate of approximately 50% without timely surgical intervention (1). Despite immediate surgical repair, the perioperative mortality in patients with ATAAD ranges between 21 and 42%.

Gust Response Alleviation with Model-Free Adaptive Control Method in Transonic Flow
Practical Applications To achieve economic viability for aircraft operation, passenger aircraft and transport planes are generally designed to cruise in the transonic regime to provide fast travel times while keeping fuel costs reasonable. However, in recent years, injuries due to turbulence on flights of passenger aircraft and transport planes have been reported.
Wrinkles in 2D TMD Heterostructures: Unlocking Enhanced Hydrogen Evolution Reaction Catalysis Two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dicalcogenides (TMDs) have demonstrated their high catalytic activity for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). However, those materials are usually born with wrinkles instead of being perfectly planar, which induce internal strain, alter the electronic properties and consequently influence the catalytic performance.

Strain effects on the magnon-magnon interaction and magnon relaxation time in ferromagnetic ${\mathrm{Cr}\mathrm{Ge}\mathrm{Te}}_{3}$
In the synthesis of two-dimensional (2D) materials and the fabrication of 2D devices, the strain introduced by lattice mismatch is inevitable. Meanwhile, strain is also a frequently used strategy to improve the Curie temperature of 2D magnets. However, the impact of strain on the magnon relaxation time is unclear.

Layer-dependent excellent thermoelectric materials: from monolayer to trilayer tellurium based on DFT calculation
1 Introduction Two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials have become a hotspot in research since the discovery of graphene (Geim, 2009; Abergel et al., 2010), hexagonal BN (Meziani et al., 2015; Zhang et al., 2017a), transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) (Zhang et al., 2017b), and so on (Meziani et al., 2015; Wang et al., 2023; Zhang et al., 2023). This can be attributed to their distinctive layer-related and thermal properties (Gu et al., 2017).

Self-Adhesive, Strong Antifouling, and Mechanically Reinforced Methacrylate Hyaluronic Acid Cross-Linked Carboxybetaine Zwitterionic Hydrogels
Hyaluronic acid and zwitterionic hydrogels are soft materials with poor mechanical properties. The unique structures and physiological properties make them attractive candidates for ideal hydrogel dressings, but the crux of lacking satisfying mechanical strengths and adhesive properties is still pendent. In this study, the physical cross-linking of dipole–dipole interactions of zwitterionic pairs was utilized to enhance the mechanical properties of hydrogels.

First-principles study of Li-doped planar g-C3N5 as reversible H2 storage material
1 Introduction Under the context of global energy crisis, development of clean yet renewable resource is highly needed. Hydrogen, which is regarded as the fuel of future, owns the advantage of high renew-ability, and its combustion has zero-emission of CO2 (Allendorf et al., 2018; Züttel, 2004; U.S Department of Energy, 2020); thus it can be widely applied in many fields.

Ferroelectric polarization reversals in C2N/α-In2Se3 van der Waals heterostructures: a conversion from the traditional type-II to S-scheme
1 Introduction Photocatalysis is an emerging sustainable technology that utilizes semiconductor photocatalysts to drive chemical reactions by light irradiation. Upon photon absorption greater than the bandgap energy, photocatalysts generate electron-hole pairs that enable reduction-oxidation reactions on the surface. This allows the conversion of organic contaminants into less harmful products using solar energy (Wen et al., 2019).

Cytotoxicity of alkaline serine protease (ASPNJ) on Jurkat cells and its correlation with changes in the expression of membrane‐associated proteins
Abstract We aim to study the inhibitory effect of alkaline serine protease (ASPNJ) on lymphocytic leukemia Jurkat cells and its related mechanism through examining the expression of membrane proteins or membrane-associated proteins. MTT assay and trypan blue staining were used to detect the inhibitory effect of ASPNJ on the proliferation and growth of Jurkat cells. Wright-Giemsa staining was used to observe the effect of ASPNJ on the morphology of Jurkat cells.

Achieving Boron–Carbon–Nitrogen Heterostructures by Collision Fusion of Carbon Nanotubes and Boron Nitride Nanotubes
Abstract : Heterostructures may exhibit completely new physical properties that may be otherwise absent in their individual component materials. However, how to precisely grow or assemble desired complex heterostructures is still a significant challenge. In this work, the collision dynamics of a carbon nanotube and a boron nitride nanotube under different collision modes were investigated using the self-consistent-charge density-functional tight-binding molecular dynamics method.

“Pore‐Hopping” Ion Transport in Cellulose‐Based Separator Towards High‐Performance Sodium‐Ion Batteries
Graphical Abstract Cellulose separators have some challenges for their application in sodium-ion batteries: In their Research Article (e202300258), Xing-Long Wu and co-workers prepare a composite separator (CP@PPC) using cellulose paper (CP) cured by impregnation with polypropylene carbonate (PPC).
“Pore‐Hopping” Ion Transport in Cellulose‐Based Separator Towards High‐Performance Sodium‐Ion Batteries
Graphical Abstract Immersion curing of a cellulose-based separators (CP) with poly(propylene carbonate) (PPC) results in a cellulose-based composite separator (CP@PPC) for sodium-ion batteries. The “pore-hopping” ion transport mechanism in CP@PPC allows a high Na+ transference number. PPC enhances the mechanical properties of the separator and the battery thermal safety, further promotes ion transport and improves the overall performance of the battery.

Abstract Background Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease is an inherited tumour predisposition syndrome and a paradigm for the importance of early diagnosis and surveillance. However, there is limited information on the “real world” management of VHL disease. Methods A national audit of VHL disease in the United Kingdom. Results VHL disease was managed mostly via specialist clinics coordinated through regional clinical genetics services (but frequently involving additional specialties).
