What was your first job as a journalist?
A boxing writer for a small UK-based platform.

What does it mean to be a journalist?
Someone who writes news stories for websites, newspapers, magazines and social networks.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
Unfortunately, I can't recall one off the top of my head!
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Given a list of daily topics, listed in priority order.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
WordPress, Adobe and Canva.
What's your favorite social network?
X (formerly Twitter).
Who do you wish followed you?
I wish my late-grandfather could be here to read some of my work.
Why did you become a journalist?
To pursue my passion for writing.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I never got the chance to, but I would have loved to!
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Covering a number of Welsh small-hall boxing shows which were featured in my local newspaper.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Always proof-read your work and never stop believing in yourself.
When's the best time to pitch you?
First thing in the morning.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
To write a detailed story about the career of a now-retired boxer.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
I can't say I've had a bad pitch. I love writing about boxing!
What's your favorite drink?
Flavoured Water.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Spending time with my loved ones.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
Boxing News magazine.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That being a boxing writer is repetitive. Every day presents new challenges and topics to write about!
