2 Corinthians 5:14-15
For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!

10 Books Every Woman in the Church Should Read
It may seem out of place for me to give book recommendations for women to read, but honestly more women than men in the church have asked me what they should be reading. It would be an overgeneralization to assume this happens because men don’t like to stop and ask for directions. My best guess is that women are just stepping up to the task of reading and writing good theology at a more rapid pace than men are. It’s a wonderful thing to see.
Life Without a Bucket List

I can confidently say that I don’t live with a long list of things I want to do, see, or complete before I’m done in this place. I carried a dream for years of having a farm. I was in love with all things Wendell Berry. I could picture it, the life of routine created by the land and its rhythms. But beyond that I’ve never longed for having a list and checking things off.

Psalm 34:1 What does it mean to bless the Lord at all times? What does a life of constant praise look like? How do I turn toward Jesus in my desperation and not simply turn away in fear and anguish? How do I trust when the story continues to crumble my hopes and dreams?
Rebuilding Trust After an Affair
I lifted the phone out of my husband’s hands. He was so tired that he’d fallen asleep in bed while texting. I’d come home late from an out-of-town trip to find him in bed. As I went to plug in his phone for the night, I saw a conversation on the screen that took my breath away. He had been texting a woman, and a quick glance through the texts indicated that there had been more than just a texting relationship. My husband had been unfaithful. I wanted to throw up.
Letter to my readers upon my death — Mundane Faithfulness
I just wrote the simple title: Letter to my readers upon my death, and I'm undone. This is a letter I have written in my head for months, but putting the first words on paper is my undoing. I cannot begin to use this simple language to express the heart of what I feel for this community. There is so much love in this community I can barely take it all in at times. I have been prayed for, cried over, my story shared over and over. You all can't know the love I have felt from each of you.
Mundane Faithfulness
I have a home full of love, of help, of support, and I’m still fighting to be strong. My Mickey, my brother, my guy are all available to help me in my weakness- and yet, and yet- I fake strength. It’s exhausting. How they keep putting up with me…. It’s grace, it’s such grace. How are you faking strength today? What makes you afraid of help? Why is weakness something we fear so strongly? I have been left with a day to get through- but I don’t want to come back here.
Stripped Bald — Mundane Faithfulness
So I simply read a bit of my book- The Hardest Peace. You all have been such a champion of my book. You have shared my story, read my book, and sent countless prayers into the world unending into eternity on our behalf. We are grateful. I also put a little plug in for my dear friend's new book Falling for Texas by Jill Lynn. Please take a look. It’s from the book line Love Inspired- which is the Christian Romance fiction line of Harlequin.
How Are the Kids? — Mundane Faithfulness
It is often the first or the second question: how are the kids? Here is what I know of my children. My kids are loved. They are loved by me, their daddy, and a steady stream of lovers that meet and know them with a genuineness and love that is stunning. I’m daily looking at the love that is meeting my children, and I’m looking for the love that is meeting my children. It is often that specific, knowing, intentional, directed love to each of my children that shows me what a covenantal God I serve.
By Degrees- Living and Dying
I woke slowly this morning. From my vantage point in bed, I was able to see the sunrise. My baby was curled in the stretch of my back and I could hear the crackle the fire my guy had built downstairs. I didn’t have the strength to travel to his side, but I loved the comfort of hearing him- knowing he was using the quiet to speak with Jesus about our now, our story, our hearts, and our children. Their is a constant pulse of an IV the doctor sent me home with Friday.
Kara’s Collection: Tears in my Popcorn — Mundane Faithfulness
from an article originally posted July 31, 2014... I wrote a review after seeing A Fault In Our Stars with friends. When I left that movie I simply didn’t feel my biggest was ready for the movie. Then one evening we had a dinner party and a friend changed my mind. Chris Hooper gently spoke to me about my decision to keep Ella from this book and this movie. He was so kind to listen to me and my fears. He then turned to me and gently told me something I had not considered.
