Karen Swanson’s Biography
Karen Swanson has dedicated her life as an award-winning educator and skilled administrator to developing the great young minds of tomorrow. Swanson has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to teaching, mentoring, learning, student participation, public relations, and advocating for educational institutions since the beginning of her career. Swanson's dreams and enthusiasm drive her forward even when she has 30 years of expertise. She continues to seek to strengthen educators' capacity to promote student access, educational equity, and workforce diversity while also encouraging interaction with the local community and corporate partners.
Swanson's commitment to education extends beyond her students and the lives she changes. Swanson has spent the last three decades challenging herself to achieve better educational achievement while encouraging young brains and fighting for education. Her post-secondary education adventure began in 1985 when she enrolled at Arizona State University (ASU). She attended ASU from 1985 to 1991 and obtained a Bachelor's degree in English and Secondary Education. She also earned a Post Baccalaureate degree during this time. Swanson then attended the University of Phoenix from 1996 to 1998, receiving her Master of Arts in Education - Administration. She then attended Iowa State University from 2012 to 2014, studying toward her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.
