Hathras: Enough With The Hashtags, Its Time To Get Real
Trigger Warning: Sexual Assault, Rape, Caste-Based Violence. In another inhumane incident of a heinous gang-rape, a 19-year old woman from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh succumbed to her grievous injuries on September 29 at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital after fighting for her life for two weeks. The 19-year old girl was allegedly assaulted and raped by four upper-caste men from her own village in Hathras on September 14.
Hathras: “My Heart Weeps, My Body Shivers”
TW: Rape As I write this I sincerely think- is it going to make any difference to the society and the cheap minds of the people? My heart weeps, my body shivers, it pains differently each time I hear about such incidents. Believe me, our status update makes no difference. Nothing has changed from Nirbhaya to the girl in Hathras.
#Hathras: 7 Months Since Justice Was Served To Nirbhaya, Has Anything Changed?

The story is ridiculous and we are ashamed of ourselves, but this is not the first time that we are witnessing such an incident. It’s been years since we have been talking about rape against women, especially those from minority communities, but nothing has changed.
We Need More Than Just Laws On Paper To Deal With Crimes Against Women
The infamous Nirbhaya gang rape brought out tens of thousands of people onto the streets across India demanding safety for women. The laws after the incident indeed changed, but the situation hasn’t. The Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013, provided for rigorous life term and death penalty for rape convicts in addition to stringent punishments for offences like acid attacks, stalking, and voyeurism.
An Open Letter To The Ministry Of Home Affairs About Increasing Rape Cases
To, The Ministry of Home Affairs and The Ministry of Women and Child Development I am writing this letter as a responsible and concerned citizen and on behalf of all women. I am anxious about women safety in India. I would like to have the privilege of suggesting some reforms in our country’s judicial and educational sector. I would be very grateful if you read this letter. In India, women have always been considered as the weaker sex.
