Kate Chappell’s Biography

I am a freelance journalist who has worked in Canada, the United States and Jamaica. I have taught journalism at the University of Technology in Kingston, Jamaica and the University of the West Indies. I have written for the Guardian (US), Reuters, Associated Press, Ozy, the Christian Science Monitor, the Thomson Reuters Foundation and the Washington Post among other media organizations. I have won an award for Best Electronic Feature from the Press Association of Jamaica. I have a Master's Degree in Political Science from Boston College.

I have also run a community journalism training program with 27 Jamaicans. We produced 10 pieces of investigative journalism. Read about it here:
