What was your first job as a journalist?
I was features ed for a student publication; my first paid gig was as a trainee financial journalist

Yes, I learned touch typing during journalism training
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
FOIs and EIRS; interviews; filming and recording audio and video; Microsoft CoPilot; Deepl.
Why did you become a journalist?
To find out why things happened the way they did or do, and to also discover whether things could be done in different ways.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
My long-term investigation on disability hate crime. It led to legal reform; giving evidence in Parliament; a book and over 50 articles.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Afternoons - I write most in the morning
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
On the environment, there is still a misconception that it's for specialists. With climate change, it affects all of us and every beat.
