Glenbrook X-Ray Supports Quality Assurance, Counterfeit Detection
When CNN posted a story headlined "China shuts world's largest electronics market as Shenzhen imposes more lockdowns" in late August 2022, it wasn't news to Brett Greer, vice-president of operations at Delta Group Electronics, Inc., (DGEI) he'd been dealing with worldwide Covid-related supply chain issues since early 2020, and didn't expect them to stop.
X-Ray Inspection Grows in a Challenging Electronics Market
Starting a new venture is always challenging. Starting one in 2021, when worldwide supply chain issues disrupted the entire electronics assembly industry, may have seemed particularly daunting. But for co-founders Matthew Haber (CEO) and Philip Gulley (CRO), it was the right moment to launch Cofactr, a company that allows manufacturers to cut through tangled supply chains while protecting themselves from the current proliferation of counterfeit components.
X-Ray Systems Combat Counterfeits in the Supply Chain

Q&A: The sci-fi optimist
Best-selling science-fiction writer Neal Stephenson's works cover everything from cryptography to Sumerian mythology. Ahead of next year's novel Seveneves, he talks about his influences, the stagnation in material technologies, and Hieroglyph, the forthcoming science-fiction anthology that he kick-started to stimulate the next generation of engineers. Hieroglyph Edited by: Ed Finn & Kathryn Cramer HarperCollins: 2014. 9780062204691 | ISBN: 978-0-0622-0469-1 What sparked your interest in science?
The Book of Dragons
Scott Lynch, R.F. Kuang, Kate Elliott, Ken Liu, Todd McCaffrey, Garth Nix, Peter S. Beagle, and other modern masters of fantasy and science fiction put their unique spin on the greatest of mythical beasts—the dragon—in never-before-seen works written exclusively for this fantasy anthology compiled by award-winning editor Jonathan Strahan and with art by Rovina Cai! Here there be dragons . . .
Gardening à la Gardner
When looking through the posts on Wolfram Community, the last thing I expected was to find exciting gardening ideas. The general idea of Ed Pegg’s tribute post honoring Martin Gardner, “Extreme Orchards for Gardner,” is to find patterns for planting trees in configurations with constraints like “25 trees to get 18 lines, each having 5 trees.” Most of the configurations look like ridiculous ideas of how to plant actual trees.
Celebrating Gottfried Leibniz on the 300th Anniversary of His Death
Today is the 300th anniversary of the death of Gottfried Leibniz, a man whose work has had a deep influence on what we do here at Wolfram Research. He was born July 1, 1646, in Leipzig, and died November 14, 1716, in Hanover, which was, at the time, part of the Holy Roman Empire. I associate his name most strongly with my time learning calculus, which he invented in parallel with Isaac Newton. But Leibniz was a polymath, and his ideas and influence were much broader than that.

Til Death Did Us Part
I just awoke from this horrible dream that David Hartwell, my husband, had fallen down the stairs and died. And now that I am fully awake, it is still true, and I am still a widow. It is something that cannot be true. It is as though one of the seasons, or one of the directions, up or down, has died. It lacks grammatical sense. Winter cannot die. Up cannot die. David cannot die. He just is.
