Katie Atkinson’s Biography

I'm an undergraduate Journalism and Graphic Design student at Mercer University in Macon, GA. There, I serve as the Editor-in-Chief of Mercer’s student-run newspaper and as Lead Editor of Engage CCJ, a hyperlocal web publication presented by the Center for Collaborative Journalism.

I am currently a Science Radio and Podcast Intern at NASA, where I get to play with sound. I have bylines for Georgia Public Broadcasting and The Telegraph, A McClatchy Newspaper. In order to get the story, I've swamp-dived, hill climbed, and interviewed everyone from country music stars to tribe historians. I'm a social-savvy journalist who enjoys community reporting. In my free time, I make one second a day videos and take photos.
