Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

Trainee reporter on the Congleton Chronicle. Great starting point - no emails or internet access - it taught me to get out there.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Tracey Frost in Angela Marson's novels

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Sometimes it's a thankless task but it's so rewarding when a story you have done helps people and gets important messages out there.

What's your favorite social network?

Instagram

Who do you wish followed you?

Caitlin Moran, she's brilliant.

Why did you become a journalist?

I love writing and I'm extremely curious (nosy) so it made sense to get paid for it.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

A story about a couple fighting to end Breed Specific Legislation after having their pit-types seized (it's on my portfolio).

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Don't give up! Writing is a passion and that will drive you to succeed. Also, try and get as much work experience as you can.

What's your favorite drink?

A sweet cup of milky coffee or a piña colada.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Slobbed out on the sofa binge watching a box set, sweating it out at an exercise class or walking my Jack Russell
