Kelly Kimball

I am a Webby- and Shorty Impact Award-winning reporter, editor and social media strategist based in New York City, dedicated to helping audiences navigate the complexities of international affairs, global women's rights, the geopolitics of climate change, and the consequential ripples of global flashpoints. ⬇️

I'm also the Managing Editor of More to Her Story, a global nonprofit newsroom publishing news, features, op-eds and investigations centered on women and girls across five continents, reaching 1-3 million monthly readers. Through my work at MTHS, I have been invited to share remarks on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly; share insights with fellow women newsroom leaders at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism; join a cohort of fast-rising Asian-American journalists via the Gold House Journalism Accelerator; (forthcoming) discuss audience growth and retention at the Global Investigative Journalism Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and (forthcoming) lecture at Yale University through the Poynter Fellowship in Journalism.

In 2024 with Frame Media, I co-founded The Detour, which was a bi-weekly U.S. and global affairs newsletter read in more than 50 countries with an average open rate of 45%+. My reporting has also appeared in Foreign Policy magazine, the Poynter Institute, the San Francisco Chronicle, Heat Map News, Long Lead and more. Under my leadership, Frame Media won the 2025 Webby Award for excellence in the news & politics website category (an award which we were also a finalist for in 2024), as well as the 2024 Shorty Impact Award for excellence in digital storytelling innovation (an award which we were also a finalist for in 2023).

I am also an adjunct professor at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, where I teach courses on law, ethics and safety in journalism.
