What was your first job as a journalist?

Working for a local magazine called The Salford Star.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes. I used to have one as child. It's still in my parents attic I think.

How is social media changing news?

It's making it quicker and easier to deliver and for people to access and see what's happening.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Rory Gilmore.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means writing insightful content that makes people think or smile.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Via email.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Wordpress, Media Eye, Outlook, Gmail etc

What's your favorite social network?

Toss up between Twitter and Instagram.

Who do you wish followed you?

Kate Thornton, Louis Tomlinson or Scooter Braun.

Why did you become a journalist?

I like writing and researching things and it combined the two.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I wrote for my college one.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Any story I write which promotes a charity are the ones I really like doing.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Push yourself to write outside your comfort zone.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Evening.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

A very insightful and thoughtful piece on the work of a national charity.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

A celebrity news piece on a subject that was months old.

What's your favorite drink?

Liptons Lemon Iced Tea

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Asleep, listening to music or out eating somewhere nice.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

I used to love reading Sugarscape and read Just Jared Jr as a teen. Now I quite like articles from Oliver Shah in The Times.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That showbiz news has to be all about the bad stuff celebs do.
