Kelsy Chauvin
VerifiedKelsy Chauvin’s Biography
I am a versatile freelance writer specializing in travel, as well as gastronomy, wine, nightlife, arts and culture, cannabis, and LGBTQ+ interests. I create both editorial and branded content. My work has been published in Condé Nast Traveler, Lonely Planet, Passport, AFAR, TripAdvisor, The Points Guy, CNN, Sherman’s Travel, Orbitz, Fodor’s, EDGE Media Network, Curve, and other media. I have co-authored several Frommer’s Travel guide books; the Fodor’s Brooklyn guide; as well as Rand McNally’s Best of the Road Atlas & Guide, and America Travels book series. Since 2015, I have co-authored the annual New York City Guide for Fodor’s Travel.
I served two terms as president of the New York Travel Writers Association (NYTW.info), and I’m a contributing member of the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA.org). As a speaker, I have participated on panels at the New York Times Travel Show, the PRSA Travel & Tourism Conference, Philadelphia Travel & Adventure Show, and Travel Gay Canada Tourism Conference; and I have been quoted as an LGBTQ+ travel expert in New York Times features.
Though I’m based in Brooklyn where I enjoy car-free life, I love driving and road trips. In 2024, I visited my 50th state -- thank you, North Dakota! Next up will be exploring all 13 Canadian provinces (seven down, six to go), and my 48th country later this year. Though I’m not sure if visiting both Russia and Uzbekistan when they were part of the now-nonexistent U.S.S.R. back in 1990 counts as three separate countries. What do you think?
