Have you ever used a typewriter?

Hell yeah! My elementary school demanded typewritten reports but I didn't get my 1st computer till high school.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Not quite a journalist, but Bartleby the Scrivener rates pretty high.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

brain, thesaurus, public library, telephone, laptop computer, excel, google refine, and increasingly R and Python, datarefine,

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

No. I was too busy playing the clarinet on my competitive marching band team. I can mark time & roll my feet like a wizard.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

My book, Green Washed.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Be a subject matter specialist on issues of importance.
