ABSTRACT As automation reshapes work, employees increasingly interact with intelligent systems rather than perform core tasks directly. Drawing on Campion’s job design perspective and Affective Events Theory, this study examines the double-edged effects of human-machine interaction (HMI) on metro drivers’ safety performance. We propose that HMI enhances safety compliance and safety participation by reducing job tension.
