Cerebral Protection Device Deployment Via Left Radial Artery During TAVI in Presence of Truncus Bicaroticus:
Introduction The heart team recommended transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) for an 82-year-old woman for treatment of her severe symptomatic aortic stenosis because of high surgical risk and frailty. Figure 1A shows the 3-dimensional reconstruction of her TAVI workup computed tomography scan, demonstrating a rare anatomic variant of the bovine aortic arch (BAA) presenting as common origin of the carotid arteries (COCA), or truncus bicaroticus).
The Impact of Virtual Fractional Flow Reserve and Virtual Coronary Intervention Upon Treatment Decisions in the Cardiac Catheter Laboratory
Abstract Background Using fractional flow reserve (FFR) to guide percutaneous coronary intervention for patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) improves clinical decision making but remains under-used. Virtual FFR (vFFR, computed from angiographic images) permits physiological assessment without a pressure wire and can be extended to virtual coronary intervention (VCI) facilitating treatment planning.
Build an Effective Valve Operations and Maintenance Program
Knowing how, when, and why to service critical valve assets can help your utility operate efficiently as well as save time and money.
Reap the Benefits of a Fire Hydrant Maintenance Program
WATER UTILITIES and service providers sometimes perform maintenance on an as-needed basis, servicing assets when they've been rendered inadequate, ineffective, and/or unreliable. Not surprisingly, such an approach provides customers with a suboptimal level of service.
Consider Not‐So‐Hidden Costs of Not Managing Assets
An asset provides service for a typical number of years based on materials used, proper construction and installation procedures, and appropriate operation and maintenance practices. But an asset's life expectancy is often reduced as a result of neglect.
AWWA Standard C810‐17: An Important Tool for Utilities in Reducing Exposure to Lead in Water
In the United States, service lines made of lead were installed in many distribution systems before Congress banned installation of new lead pipes in 1986. Many lead service lines (LSLs) are still in place, however, and a recent study concluded that approximately 6.1 million LSLs (either full or partial) are still present in US community water systems (Cornwell et al. 2016).

How Can We Manage Water Main Breaks to Maintain Customer Confidence?
Water main breaks are a distribution system reality, and they're unpredictable. When a water main break occurs, the primary focus often is to restore service as quickly as possible without much regard for what caused the break or whether another in the same area is likely. Utility employees can identify key details about breaks that will help them better manage system and customer impacts. This article discusses causes, impacts, repair, and documentation of main breaks.
