Letter: Tax savings from Republican law
A non-billionaire wrote in to say he will be saving $3,200 in taxes under the new law, rejecting liberal newspaper accounts that the law only benefited billionaires. The liberal media never said only billionaires would benefit. The writer’s calculations show that his household income is likely in the range of $100-200,000/year. Households in the $18-53,000 range see a $30 benefit, between $50-100,000 will see a $1,700 benefit and those who make between $200-460,000 will see a $12,500 benefit.
Letter: Suggested medical malprctice reform
David Walker includes a request for medical malpractice tort reform in his faulty Medicaid reform analysis. Why limit the liability of doctors who hurt patients by providing negligent care? The poor care results in increased medical bills for those they harm and reform would place the burden of the injuries on the victim rather then the negligent provider.
Local opinion: We all have a stake in protecting due process
The following is the opinion and analysis of the writer: Several letters appeared in the Sunday Star criticizing those who condemned the deportation of Mr. Abrego Garcia to El Salvador. I write to argue why everyone should condemn this deportation. The writers all argued that Abrego Garcia’s wife had a protective order against him and that he was a member of a domestic terrorist group.

Letter: Response to request for difference between forced binding of feet and genital mutilation and voluntary treatment for gender dysphoria
Re: the July 21 letter "You call this 'progressive?'" Do you really not see a difference between women being forced to bind their feet and having their genitalia mutilated and folks who find themselves trapped in a body they do not identify with and choosing to transition into one which allows them to be themselves. Where do you get your assumption that children are being forced to have the surgeries you reference?
