Interview

What does it mean to be a journalist?

There's a big responsibility there to educate the reader and place things into context. You can't take it lightly.

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter. Hands down.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

A feature for The Cauldron on the rise of the infield shift in baseball. Put in a bunch of time, and learned a lot in the process.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

You've got to be persistent, and you've got to be authentic. If you're not yourself, what sets you apart from other writers?

What's your favorite drink?

Coffee.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

When it comes to sports, I'm a fan of Sports Illustrated, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

People think I actively root for the Knicks and the Yankees b/c I cover them. '13-'14 NYK team was one of my favorites. So much dysfunction.
