How is social media changing news?

Social media is fundamentally transforming the news landscape in several key ways. First, it enables real-time news dissemination, allowing stories to break instantly and reach a global audience. This immediacy fosters a culture of rapid reporting, but it also raises concerns about accuracy and verification, as misinformation can spread quickly.Second, social media platforms provide a space for diverse voices, allowing underrepresented communities to share their perspectives and experiences. This democratization of news has the potential to enrich public discourse but can also lead to echo chambers, where users are exposed primarily to viewpoints that align with their own.Additionally, social media influences how news is consumed. Audiences increasingly prefer bite-sized content and visual storytelling, which impacts how traditional news organizations present information. This shift challenges journalists to adapt their approaches to engage readers effectively. Finally, social media has changed the relationship between news consumers and producers, with audiences now participating in discussions, sharing stories, and even influencing news coverage through their feedback and engagement.Overall, while social media presents exciting opportunities for the news industry, it also introduces challenges that require careful navigation.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Evening

What's the best pitch you ever got?

The best pitch I ever got was from a startup that presented an AI-driven platform designed to optimize hardware performance at a granular level. They showed how their software could dynamically adjust resource allocation in real-time based on workload patterns, essentially providing ‘smart’ overclocking for different devices. The idea of using machine learning to enhance hardware efficiency in ways that I hadn’t thought of was super intriguing. The pitch was so solid, it had me thinking about new possibilities for merging AI and hardware in ways I hadn’t seen before.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

When I'm not at a computer, I'd probably be tinkering with something else—whether it's a piece of hardware, a gadget, or even working on a personal project. I might also enjoy time in a lab, or if I need a break, exploring nature to recharge. How about you? When you're away from the screen, what’s your go-to activity? When I'm not at a computer, I'm usually building or tinkering with electronics, maybe in my workshop or garage. I enjoy working on DIY projects, experimenting with new tech, or even just catching up on the latest gadgets. If I'm not hands-on with hardware, you’ll find me reading up on new programming languages or tech trends. There’s always something new to learn or create!

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

Aside from my own projects, I’m a big fan of Ars Technica and Wired. Ars Technica has deep dives into everything from hardware reviews to tech policy and future trends, which I love. Wired, on the other hand, has a great mix of tech and culture, and I appreciate how they explore the intersection of technology with society. Both publications keep me on the cutting edge, whether it’s in the realm of software, gadgets, or the broader tech landscape.
