Kevinisha Walker’s Biography

I didn't always know I wanted to be a journalist. I thought I was going to be a pharmacist. That's the career path I was encouraged to pursue when I was in high school so I figured, why not.
While in college at the University of New Orleans, I was on the pre-pharmacy track studying chemistry.
During an English 101 class, the editor-in-chief of the college paper came to talk to the class. She told us to come to a meeting that evening. I went, wrote my first story the following week and have been writing ever since.
As I mentioned before, I didn't know I wanted to be a journalist when I was a kid. But when I hear stories from family members about how I was always reading my great-grandmother's mail and asking a bunch of questions as a kid, I think maybe I always had the journalism juice. It just took me a while to figure it out.
