Opinion | First, Smear All the Lawyers Original
In “Servants of the Damned,” his purported exposé of the evils of “big law,” David Enrich gets one thing right—Jones Day is a global law firm with 2,400 lawyers and 42 offices across five continents and a 130-year history of zealously representing clients. Other than that, his portrait of Jones Day and the legal profession bears little resemblance to reality.
U.S. Supreme Court: Mere Retention of Property Does Not Violate the Automatic Stay | Lexology
On January 14, 2021, the U.S. Supreme Court held in City of Chicago v. Fulton, 592 U.S. __ (2021), that a creditor in possession of a debtor's property does not violate the automatic stay, specifically section 362(a)(3) of the Bankruptcy Code, by retaining the property after the filing of a bankruptcy petition. Moody's has big drop in Atlantic City bonds, fearing default - New York News
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - Wall Street is giving a big thumbs-down to New Jersey's effort to tame Atlantic City's finances. Moody's Investors Service on Friday lowered Atlantic City's bond rating by six steps, from Ba1 to Caa1, which is deep into junk territory. The move came a day after Gov. Chris Christie appointed corporate turnaround specialist Kevin Lavin as the city's emergency manager, and Kevyn Orr, who helped Detroit through its bankruptcy filing, as his assistant.
Orr reflects on Detroit's bankruptcy
A fresh start. That is what the city’s trip through Chapter 9 municipal bankruptcy has purchased for Detroiters.
