What was your first job as a journalist?

Sports clerk for my hometown paper, The Paducah Sun.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

In elementary school. My parents owned an electric one.

How is social media changing news?

It's bringing in more eyes and voices into the daily conversation. It's also making it harder for people to find factual information.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Clark Kent? Does he count?

What does it mean to be a journalist?

To be a finder of the truth and scribe of history.

By email.

Why did you become a journalist?

I love to interact with different people and this is one job where you get to meet different people from all walks of life on a daily basis.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I did. I was editor-in-chief.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Kindness opens many doors.

When's the best time to pitch you?

In the morning.

Doing something on my Honey-Do-List.
