What was your first job as a journalist?
My first job as an 18 year old journalist were about club reviews. I contributed to the 'Clubbin' column for Rolling Out Weekly magazine.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, one you had to plug in.
How is social media changing news?
The general public doesn't comprehend long form journalism, and misinformation is spread easier.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To seek out truth, honesty, and provide a realistic view of the world we live in.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I am flexible.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes. I worked on my high school year book as a sports contributor.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Lottie the Body. Detroit Burlesque star who passed away. Her legacy is truly revolutionary.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Be consistent no matter how many no's or however long it takes to get published. One day, the stars will align and so will the right editor.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I like the Washington Post and newsletter from National Press Club and the International Media Women's Foundation.
