What's your favorite social network?
Substack is technically social media. It's reminiscent of the early days of the internet where we could all curate and interact in peace.
Who do you wish followed you?
I wish leaders from all sides of the political spectrum followed me, because this would cement my reputation as a trustworthy journalist.
Why did you become a journalist?
I've always wanted to create impact through my words.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I was in the Features section of my high school magazine, The Magnificat. I eventually became Features Editor then Associate Editor.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Take calculated risks, but more importantly, take care of yourself.
When's the best time to pitch you?
During standard work hours, 8am-5pm from Mondays through Fridays.
What's your favorite drink?
Nothing beats an ice-cold glass of water on a hot day. Hot matcha lattes for the cold rainy season.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
Magazines are my go-to when not reading the news: New York Magazine, Vogue Philippines and The Review of Beauty (Substack).
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That fact-checkers are biased towards a certain political camp. Fact-checkers should only be biased for the truth.
