What was your first job as a journalist?
I was an intern for four months at the Riverine Herald in Echuca.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Not for work.
How is social media changing news?
It means anyone can break news but the skill of telling the story has greater value.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Jughead Jones.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It's a privilege to tell people's stories.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Email. But if something's sent to me in the mail or dropped into the office it really stands out.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
All social media platforms, iPhone, laptop, computer, microphone, recorder, newsnow, google drive, FDC and the Fairfax style-guide.
What's your favorite social network?
Instagram.

Leigh Sales.
Why did you become a journalist?
I read an article which gave an insight into another perspective. I found it interesting that I could have my views changed just with words.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
The ones that stand out most are 'Death is the reality here' and 'Still Makaila'. I'm very proud of all the podcasts I have produced.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Read newspaper articles and re-write the first paragraphs to be punchier. Listen to everyone.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Anytime!
What's the best pitch you ever got?
A photo of a decorated Richmond Football Club window and handwritten on the back was a number and 'interview me'.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
Any email with my name spelt wrong.
What's your favorite drink?
Energiser smoothie from Sweet Meadow in Echuca.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
In the lounge room reading and eating.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
Frankie Magazine.
