When Tennessee Inspired a Story I Never Expected to Write By Kimberly Ferrato I grew up in Southern California, so Tennessee was completely different from anything I was used to. I honestly never imagined that I would spend part of my life there, and I definitely never imagined it would inspire me to write my first novel. When I started spending more time in Tennessee, I fell in love with the small towns, back roads, old houses, churches, and cemeteries.
