Heading there today to drop off my newly aquired Gruen Veri Thin Pan Am. What's gracing your wrist today? I got a tan line on my wrist from my watch.

I’m rock’n a Tudor FXD 21 on Zealande rubber one piece. Living out in a remote area has its advantages; Space-X launches another 26 Starlink satellites into low orbit. (As seen from my back 40, I’ve seen several of these but usually not in the position to take a decent photo) Between Starlink and the VPN I use SOTB, I’m able to post this.

###WRUW Sunday 15 June 2025, Happy Father's Day!!!###
Happy Father's Day to all who might be celebrating. In Australia, we celebrate in September.
Welcome to the weekend people, hope everyone has survived Friday the 13th unscathed. It's been a hot one here but the rain has started now - typical UK! Anyhow, I've had my Omega Seamaster GMT on for most of the day - let's see what you're wearing... #1 · Welcome to the weekend people, hope everyone has survived Friday the 13th unscathed.
Help sourcing Solvil 811 parts?
#1 · Hello everyone, a family member recently gave me this watch to repair, it was one of my grandfather's. It has a Titus/Solvil 811 movement with sweep second hand. The closest base model I could find was an ETA 816, does that seem correct? The sweep second cock jewel was pulverized on arrival and the pallet arbor was broken as well. I'd like to source the correct SSC jewel (or sweep second cock complete) and a new pallet fork. I tried McCaw but they don't carry any parts for this movement.

Welcome to the weekend folks - and to the first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere (none of this waiting around for the spring equinox, I've had enough of winter). Anyway, I'll kick things off with my IWC Aquatimer Chrono - post what you're wearing!

Wrist Check Time WRUW? This Favra Leuba Genève automatic was my father’s. Acquired new in Switzerland between 1955 and 59. He never wound it and rarely ever set the date. He also never serviced it.

Elliot Brown Arne This is a teaser from the launch batch of 50. The range proper goes on sale next month I believe. On sepia leather pull-through strap. This strap is over six years old, and been on several watches in that time - it's from vintage watch straps co.uk. I have five now in different colours and widths and styles of fittings. HAGD

Help selecting replacement crystal?
#1 · Hi everyone, I'm trying to choose a replacement crystal for a 1960 Bulova Storm King D variant with an 11AFC movement. The crystal presses down over an inner shoulder and a bezel ring surrounding it holds it in place. I tried searching the ABC case parts catalog but there's no case number inside, it just reads "Swiss L9". Here are the measurements: Grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction! Locating Elgin 24 hour parts?
Hi everybody, I'm putting together an Elgin gun camera 24 hour watch for fun. I've got the movement, Star A-11 case and gun camera dial but was wondering if anyone could help me source 24 hour - hour and minute wheels for the Elgin 647? I believe the 24 hour version uses a special sweep second wheel as well? Finally, any thoughts on where to find white diamond style 8/0 hands for it? Thanks very much for any advice!

Advice when aligning/setting ETA 1100 calendar works?
#1 · Hi everyone, I'm working on an ETA 1100 and was wondering if anyone could advise on how to align the calendar works and hands so that everything clicks over at midnight? I'm comfortable with the ETA 900 pointer calendars, but haven't finished one of these before. Very grateful for any guidance here! See less See more

## WRUW Thursday 11 July 2024 ##
Good morning fellow watch enthusiast today my grandfather passed away at the age of 97 after a fall earlier this week, in his honour I am wearing his pocket watch. This watch belonged to my grandfather and his grandfather before him. I think from memory it was made in 1867. On my wrist this morning is a Omega Geneva ref. 166.070 cal 565 from 1972. Love to see what you are wearing to pass the time this Thursday.

Help locating an ETA 2821 balance complete?
#1 · Hi everyone, as the title says I'm trying to source a balance complete for an ETA 2821, only it needs to be for the original generation (not -1, -2, etc). The ETACHRON versions are widely available, but the one I need uses a traditional cylindrical HS stud. So far I've spoken with Jules Borel, Otto Frei, Eckcells and Cas-Ker, none of whom have this part. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd be most grateful! It's for a 1970's Ball that I'd love to get running again.
Repairing a large driving wheel?
#1 · I'm working on a Zodiac 70 72 which is running very well, apart from the fact that the hour and minute hands aren't moving. The large driving wheel spins freely thus the minute wheel doesn't turn. Does anyone happen to know of a way I can repair this wheel? It's discontinued and I understand it and the barrel are well-known weak spots in this movement and I haven't been able to source a new replacement. Grateful for any advice! See less See more
Case tube sheared off, Part 2
#1 · Hi again, I wanted to update on the last question and ask for further guidance. It turns out the case tube was threaded after all. Archer recommended trying an easy out tool, I had a decent set in the shed and it worked. Slowly and gently working the bit eased the remains of the tube out. At this point, I should note the watch is a Davosa Ternos Diver. I ordered a replacement crown and case tube from Davosa ($84.00 including shipping) and they sent a friction fitted case tube for this watch.
Case tube sheared off, how to remove remains?
#1 · Hi everyone, my cousin managed to snap the stem and shear the case tube off his watch. I've mentioned before I don't do much case work, can anyone advise on how I might remove what's left of the tube in the case? I don't currently have a case tube press but I'm open to ordering one if it will do the job. See less See more
Advice on removing stuck caseback on Elgin grade 444?
#1 · Hi everyone, I'm working on a 1920 Elgin watch and the caseback is stuck on. I've tried every method I know to get it off without damaging the watch and it's not budging. If anyone has tips or advice on how I might safely remove it, I'd be eternally grateful. See less See more

Back from vacay. Was seeing the other half's family, but somehow despite not planning it I got to meet the founders of two watch brands and have a good talk with them. Well, anyways, no one really cares about that (I'll draft something later about that bit of luck). Here's some pics from the week. I stuck to basic watches though. Didn't want to stand out while on vacay.

Sourcing a replacement screw down crown?
#1 · Hi everyone, the screw down crown on my cousin's Davosa Ternos CS#6306 will no longer tighten properly, leaving a gap of about 0.8mm. Davosa wants $84.00 for a replacement crown and tube so, before going that route, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a generic replacement? I don't normally work on dive watches, so selecting a replacement screw down crown is completely new to me.

#2 · #3 · Just back from Service ... I think about 1925. Glad to have my watch museum back together again: Left to right .. Demier Fr. wristwatch, basically a hunter pocket watch movement in a lepine case, with some lugs welded on. Underneath, hallmarked for 1914/15, Rolex 'screw front and back' semi-hermetic case. Up and right, Rolex Oyster cushion case - the Rolco quality in 'Snowite' metal. This too also has a screw bezel and a screw back, but moreover has a screwed sealed winding crown.

Please help ID this type of anti-shock spring with three triangular tabs?
#1 · Hi everyone, I've come across an anti-shock spring I'm unfamiliar with and was hoping someone might be able to tell me what it's called and how it's meant to be opened. The movement is an FE 233-68. The entire inner ring rotates but there's no gap to release it. Same system used on the balance side as well. Any guidance is greatly appreciated! See less See more

WOTB Jan 28 - Feb 03, 2024
#1 · Haven't seen a WOTB post lately and was wondering what everyone has been working on. I grabbed a Pontiac Nageur with a pretty dial recently. It has a Felsa 415 Bidynator in it (first calibre with bidirectional rotor winding). The staff was bad so I'm trying to source a balance complete for it. Today, I had a Clebar with a 25 jewel ETA 2472. Interesting calendar design in here: Still, it turned out well: So, what's on your bench?
Zenith watch cleaning machine, worth it?…Purchased!
#2 · I inherited those very jars from a generation or two of relatives. I wonder whether the jars came from an actual machine or the machine you're looking at has food storage jars for replacements. No opinion on the machine tho. I'd prefer one with a drying cycle. Or maybe the drying cycle is just spin drying it in an empty jar. #3 · I do think the drying is just a spin cycle. #5 · My machine has the heated well for the last step, but I don't use it anymore.

Lititz Precision Freedom?
#1 · I was wondering if anyone here had used this cleaning machine before and, if so, what were your thoughts on it? I've been thinking of upgrading from my old four jar to an automatic and the price tag on this model is pretty tempting. Any thoughts or input is greatly appreciated! Link to Lititz Freedom website.
Source for Movado 405 sweep second wheel (#227)?
#1 · Hi everyone, I'm trying to find a #227 sweep second wheel for a Movado 405 movement. I've tried everyone from Cas-Ker to Frei to Eckcells to Scotchwatch and had no luck whatsoever. Does anyone happen to know where I might find one of these? I'd really appreciate any suggestions!
Looking for someone to replace dial feet.
Hi everyone, I have a Bulova dial that is missing its feet and haven't yet made the plunge into buying the soldering machine. If anyone here in the U.S. can do this for me, I'd love to hear from you with an estimate.
The worst Exxon Valdez I've seen yet.
Pulled the dial off this travesty just now and had to share my discovery with others who might appreciate it. I've seen some "liberal applications" before but... Now I just need a pipeline to a refinery and I'll be rich!
