Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois 2 prediction thread
Picked Dubois in the first fight, and I am not changing my prediction for this one either. No chance Boxercise has Wardley working on his jab or doing anything any different. Far too predictable. That first fight was horrible, and it will have 100% taken something out of Wardley. He's a genuinely decent character, so hopefully he doesn't get seriously hurt, but I can see it being a horrible stoppage again, and earlier, a terrible decision to go right back in there immediately with the rematch.
Is Isaac Cruz the modern day Roberto Duran?
Has high profile fights and performs very well against the best fighters, getting high profile wins, then going and losing to people he never in a million years should be losing to, but then gets straight back in there and performs well at the top level again.
Were the Tyson comparisons justified?
Not at all. Tyson had 28 fights in under 2 years going 10 rounds 3 times whilst winning a belt. Tyson had atleast been extended the distance and had been tested by the likes of James Tillis, Mitch Green, Jose Ribalta, before fighting for a world title. Itauma realistically hasn't fought 1 live body prior to Hrgovic apart from maybe Franklin who's a borderline top 20 Heavyweight I guess. And he's never gone past 6 rounds either.

Itauma vs. Hrgović shades of Morrison vs. Mercer?
Itauma is more talented than Morrison and hopefully has his personal life more in order, but I agree there are some similarities as far as people wanting them to be better than they are.

Ex boxer Prichard Colón dead at 33
It was already such a sad and tragic story as it is. Awful and still so young at 33 but his life was destroyed at 23. RIP, champ A comment from the Reddit link 'Most boxing fans think Prichard was in a persistent vegetative state, but I stumbled on an article by the Washington Post from 2019 that shows he was actually much more aware than most of us realized. It’s behind a paywall but I’ll summarize the key points.
Rolly Romero vs Teofimo Lopez, who you got and why?

Next week's fights for Fury and Joshua
Next week's fights for Fury and Joshua Has Fury been very clever in that it may be hard to get footage of Fury's warm up fight before potentially facing Joshua next. Joshua may not be able to get great footage to prepare based on Fury's last fight before they meet, whereas Fury will be able to closely watch Joshua's warm up fight ?? I am not convinced that Fury/Joshua happens this year Fury I think has had a few times where he has postponed etc.

Andy Ruiz Jr. vs Damian Knyba set to headline Matchroom card in New Jersey on Sept. 4 (DAZN x TNT)
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by BoxerMaurits, . This content is protected Fight’s a done deal: This content is protected Last edited: Knyba could win this. He's very tall, active, 30 years old and can box a bit. Ruiz is on the cusp of 37, has never lived the life of an athlete (especially since beating AJ in 2019), hasn't won a fight in 4 years (when he scraped past age 43+ Ortiz) and should have lost to Miller 2 years ago, which was his last fight.

People hate overly defensive fighters but complain about Boots getting hit.
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by MarkusFlorez99, . Even Crawford got put on bambi legs by Gamboa. Canelo got buckled by Jose Cotto. Lomachenko got dropped by Linares. Teofimo got beat up by Kambosos before he smoked Josh Taylor. Inoue has gotten dropped twice and hurt multiple times against less skilled guys than Xander, Nery wasn't as good as Xander. People are being way too critical of Ennis.

Watching live in the stadium
I have a question for those that are experienced with watching boxing live at the venue. I've only done that with amateur contests so far. Those are great, but i suppose a whole different thing. Now that interesting top pro heavyweight fights might come to germany, I am considering going there. The thing is I really want to watch the fights. I want to be close like I would be in an amateur contest. I don't want to watch on a big screen, my first priority is not the atmosphere/spectacle but the fights.

Who has higher IQ, Bivol or Usyk
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by MarkusFlorez99, . Who plans ahead more in that ring I think its pretty close. I think Usyk may have been forced to adjust more so I lean his way I feel Bivol has mostly fought in first and second gear and has not really had to show his "ring IQ" (hate the phrase) Both have elite ring IQ. What might stand out is that Usyk has always been the smaller fighter in his HW fights. Your name or email address: Do you already have an account?
...and most likely will be beaten into retirement, and then he'll return again next year at 154 and get retired again. So on and so forth.
What's the deal with Conor Benn
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by KO KIDD, . This guy is continually treated like a super star but he hasn't really done anything? He keeps on being pushed into the big stage and touted as the next fight for Stevenson or Garcia but there are much better fights out there. What am I missing here? He dyed his hair blond to look like a dark skinned Eminem superfan and stood in a boxing right next to Usyk.
Mario Thomas Barrios vs. Ryan García Quesada & Gary Antuanne Russell vs. Andy Hiraoka RBR..
A pretty well matched card top to bottom, a lot of difficult to call match ups. I don't think this should be PPV. I may get mocked for this but I think that if you takeaway the WBC title at stake that this is Boxing After Dark level. Both guys are coming off of lackluster performances. Barrios has not won in how long? He arguably should be 0-2 in his last 2. Garcia has not won officially in a while and looked like a completely different fighter after the drug test.

Greatest light heavyweight of the last 25 years?
Voted Jones though he declined in 2003-2004 so he wasn't dominant in the last 25 years but I think at his peak on his best night which is within the 25 year timeline he beats or could beat anyone on that list. Bivol should also be near the top due to consistency and ability Dawson had the talent to be up there but I just don't think he quite fulfilled his promise.
Last Night's Garden Recap
This was the first fight in the main arena at MSG that I attended since Klitschko-Jennings. I have been to the theater a few times notably for Golovkin-Stevens and most recently this July when Zayas won the title with Carrington on the undercard. Stevenson-Lopez The atmosphere for the main event ring walks and introductions was the loudest I have heard a crowd in a while. Zayas got good reception from the Puerto Rican crowd but last night was a party atmosphere.
Efe Ajagba vs. Charles Martin set for February 15

Potentially interesting fight. At his best, I think Martin was better than Ajagba. But, honestly, that is more an indictment of the robotic Ajagba, than praise of Martin. At this point, Marin is pushing 40 and hasn't had a meaningful win in years. So, it will probably be hot garbage.
Kabayel vs Wardley ?
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by MarkusFlorez99, . Kabayel can do a better job than Huni, but Wardleys counter punching is underrated, Kabayel cannot beat Wardley in the pocket, he gets hit too much. Fabio is also a bit unorthodox.
Thoughts on Dana White's Recent Zuffa Boxing Quotes?
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by KO KIDD, . https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_...vs-carlos-ocampo-headlines-zuffa-boxing-event I have the quotes below and the link above. I am suspicious of Dana White and Zuffa Boxing. I worry that he is just creating a side world title with a limited crowd and will try and pass it off as boxing in total. With Turki controlling Ring Mag and in cahoots with White I worry that those rankings will become contaminated and meaningless.
Max Baer Villain Side?

91 Holyfield vs Fury from the Klitschko fight
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Joeywill, . The best version of Wlad should win out. BCS8 said: ↑ The best version of Wlad should win out. Click to expand... Meant Holyfield vs Fury I worded it wrong so I edited the title Interesting match up, Fury has a lot of physical advantages and a tricky defensive style. Wlad was very cautious and did not really take the fight to Fury and only really pushed the fight in the 11th and 12th once hopelessly behind.
Why do you think Wilder started losing?
I would agree that it is not one factor by itself. But if you were to choose one factor as being primary, which would it be?
guilty pleasures fighters you actually like to watch.
My guilty pleasure retired long ago. Ruslan Provodnikov. I miss his fights the same way smokers miss tobacco. I know it was not good boxing, but oh boy, I did enjoy that not-good boxing. I have minor guilty pleasures too, like kiko martínez or cheeseman the big cheese. I tend to realise how much I appreciate a fighter only when they retire and I cant watch them boxing anymore. Part of the beauty of boxing is that bad boxing can make awesome boxing too. There aren't many shows with that characteristic.

Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Usyk vs. Alexander Vladimirovich Povetkin - 12 rounds at HW, mid-2020
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by IntentionalButt, . This was a fight being hinted at in 2019. One inch height and three inch reach advantage for the Ukrainian southpaw.
Boxing on ESPN?
The deal ESPN had was with Top Rank and that ended. No plans for any other boxing either.
Pacquiao vs Lomachenko possible for January. Edit - Fake
Pac should have probably went after Rollie... at least that was semi winnable, still a decent size fight/name, and his goal of being the oldest person to win a world title would be in within his grasp. This is an almost certain loss, with little upside, and a loss here likely finds him out of a title fight for good. Would be an ok fight if the Rolly match wasnt available, but given his options doesnt really make sense, imo.

Thoughts on Ring Magazine Under Turki
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by KO KIDD, . Does anyone subscribe or get the print edition? How is it? I follow the YouTube channel and at first it was pretty good. I like the interviews and it has been interesting to see former HBO guys like Max and Jim back in the spotlight. However, more recently the channel seems more like a company newsletter and less of journalism and reporting. Is the writing quality or is it the same as the YT channel?
Did Adrien Broner ever have the tools to beat Marcos Maidana
Or was he simply outmatched from the get go? Going in Broner was seen as the big favourite and heir apparent to Floyd, that despite a 50-50 fight with Paulie Malignaggi which took some luster off him. After the fight ended the sentiment was that Broner was just ill prepared and fought with the wrong gameplan. But in hindsight, 11 years later, was he just overmatched and he didn't have a chance to begin with?
Andre Ward defends Gervonta Davis’ career path and criticizes modern fanbase
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Flo_Raiden, . Do you agree with Ward’s take with how Tank is managing his boxing career? Are fans being overly critical on Tank? Joseph Obey Joyce vs. Richard Riakporhe
This is an interesting crossroads fight I like Riakporhe but he is somewhat unproven and 35. Joyce has faced and beaten better fighters but is also old and shopworn. I can see a scenario where Riakporhe out boxes Joyce and wins but I can also see Joyce overwhelm the smaller and less experienced Riakpore. I'm not a fan of Joyce but this seems like a good fight, a guy with a name in the UK market who is less of a risk than the top 10 at heavyweight

Baddest Man: The Making of Mike Tyson
I just finished reading Mark Kriegel's latest book, a bio/origin story of Mike Tyson chronicling his childhood up until the knockout of Michael Spinks. I will admit that I have never read a Tyson bio previously though I have watched a documentary or two about his life. I feel like this was a pretty good book and addition to the Tyson story. I'm not sure how Kriegel is perceived by the fans in the classic but he is probably best known in the general for his ESPN commentating.
