Jeg røsket med meg det jeg fant på badet. På stuebordet lå brevet klart. Ute var natten mørk. Formiddagen etter våknet jeg av at døren ble sparket opp. To politibetjenter og to fra ambulansetjenesten sto plutselig på soverommet mitt. Jeg forsøkte å late som ingenting. Det var 11. august 2019. Siste feriedag før jobb. Min halvannet år gamle sønn og jeg var på vei til Leos Lekeland. En god dag. Helt til den stoppet. Jeg traff en umerket stolpe i trappa opp til sklien. Armene sluttet å lystre. Jeg falt.

Reindeer herding in Fennoscandia can be traced back to the 1500–1600 s. Although this animal husbandry has undergone vast transformations, the most dramatic changes have probably occurred during the last few decades through modernisation of herding by new technology, larger and commercial slaughterhouses, and the commercialisation of reindeer products. In the Saami reindeer husbandry in Norway, the pasture areas extend from the counties Troms og Finnmark to Innlandet [1].
