Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

I wrote for my college newspaper, The Campus! Then interned with WPXI and a local magazine. First paid job was reporting for a local Patch.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes, but just when messing around to type nonsense. I've never written anything serious on one.

How is social media changing news?

It's kind of making the traditional journalist irrelevant? Ordinary people can now report on stuff and go viral.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Google Docs, Google Sheets, Excel, Word, Gmail, Grammarly, Positional, Gemini, and plenty more

Why did you become a journalist?

I don't know - I guess I love uncovering hidden information and sharing it with the world.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

We didn't have a high school newspaper. The closest thing we had was yearbook staff, and I helped to write captions and take photos.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Honestly, never. In my current role, I don't pitch my own stories, so your pitch will be wasted.

What's your favorite drink?

Water, naturally. But if we're not talking the life-sustaining stuff, I'd probably say Aperol Spritz, because it's the best.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Probably at a local coffee shop or cafe working! But outside of work, I might be at the gym, at a local bar or brewery, or at the pool.
