I have always believed that newspapers are the mirrors of society. In 2014, when I was given a choice to choose a career between engineering and journalism, I decided to walk on an untrodden path— journalism, because I knew that less travelled roads lead to most beautiful endings.

I joined India's oldest and best English daily The Statesman— a preferred choice of the 'Bengali Bhadralok' in the year 2016 as an intern. I was surprised and intrigued when I found that contemporary newspapers weren't carrying much stories from the streets and this is when I decided to focus my work on the mohallas, lanes, streets and most importantly- the common man during my work in Delhi.

From tracing Mirza Ghalib's neighbours in Purani Dilli to covering Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's India tour, I've tried to use all the flavours in my recipes to rustle up beautiful stories. The common man is my inspiration and I have a lot of questions for those who are in power. Artistes fascinate me and travellers inspire me.The newspaper is my canvas and I try to paint the most vibrant and vivid stories with the colours available on my palette.

Carrying an overall experience of three years in the media industry, I have tried to learn from every department.
By essaying the role of a reporter, I've learnt the importance of storytelling with balance and objectivity.
The newsroom environment and presence of senior journalists around me have helped me to understand nuances of
copy editing, page production and helped me to develop a better news sense. Music drives me and
travelling is my passion. These interests help me to keep up with the current trends. I have covered
foreign embassies, high commissions and major international cultural engagements as well. I believe the best form of writing is explaining most complex stories in the simplest words. With this, I believe my skills and qualifications separates me from others.
