Abstract Peach (Prunus persica L.) is an important Rosaceae fruit crop and a model species for Prunus research. Although a peach graph pangenome has recently been reported, transcript diversity across cultivated peach and its wild relatives remains incompletely captured by a single reference annotation or by unspliced pangenome graphs.
Methyl-cytosine (mC) is a conserved epigenetic mark in many eukaryotic organisms and is involved in a wide range of biological processes, such as gene regulation, immunity, imprinting, and genome stability [1, 2]. Methylation of cytosine occurs in three sequence contexts: symmetric CG, CHG, and asymmetric CHH (H=A, C, or T).
1. Introduction Fruits can develop from several different parts of a flower and possess different characteristics. In this review, we shall consider the biochemical, genetic and hormonal mechanisms involved in the ripening of fleshy fruits, which makes them attractive to frugivores (animals that consume raw fruits, succulent fruit-like vegetables, roots, shoots, nuts and seeds).
