I think, Carrick needs to wake up
I’m not Carrick out by any means. I believe he was largely let down this summer window but his tactics this season so far have been shocking. Cunha at false 9 does not work. Drops in far to deep and slows play down more often than not. He is either a 10 or a left winger. Start Sesko and work out a way to get him consistent chances in games. Tempo has been shocking. Even at points of Carrick’s tenure last season we play far too slow.
My concerns about Bruno Fernandes in this system
Michael Carrick’s system this season is focusing more on control and keeping possession. This does not suit Bruno Fernandes. Bruno is a player who naturally takes risks with his passing and can give the ball away quite often. In a system where controlling the game and keeping the ball are important this clearly negatively effects the teams style of play. Bruno plays his best football in transition where he can quickly receive the ball, look forward and create chances with his passing.
Theory about transfers
I have a theory about the transfers, or rather a lack of it. The board didn't think we'd get UCL this year and they planned to use that an excuse to just give carrick the few signings that they have made. But UCL was achieved, and the excuse is lost and so is the board. Which is pathetic honestly. Tl;dr the board is a bunch of incompetent losers looking for excuses instead of players.
Matheus Fernandes – that’s it. What next?
Let’s start with the bad news. When assessing Fernandes, it’s clearly worth disregarding claims about him being a ‘Championship player’ and his two consecutive relegations; these say very little about his personal skill set and individual statistics. Statistically, Fernandes in 2025/26 is on a par with Anderson in 2024/25 and Guimarães before his transfer to Newcastle, whilst his passing statistics match those of Gravenberch’s championship-winning form.
Will Mateus Fernandes work well with Kobbie?
I have not seen enough of him. I only saw him play when we played West ham. Seems like an 8, which is the position of Kobbie. Now that we are seriously considering him, will he work with Mainoo. I reckon Tchouameni will work better with Mainoo as he is a natural 6. Don't we need a dm more atm anyways?
Very worried about this window and Carrick
Don’t get me wrong carrick has done brilliantly and earnt his jobs based on results alone although the club got slightly carried away as the performances and lack of pressure mean carrick was not properly tested. I’m very concerned because Carrick is repeating the mistakes that previous managers bar Amorim (whom I despise awful manager) did. Amorim diagnosed the problems and correctly enforced moving on players despite their big fees and sentimentalities.
50 million for potential or 60 million for a guarantee: which would you choose?
According toThe Athletic, Newcastle are prepared to consider offers in the region of £50 million for Lewis Hall. And the dilemma looks pretty interesting: would you go for Hall at £50m or Cucurella at £60m?
What's you guys opinion on a midfield trio of Scott, Fernandes and Ederson as our three signings?
Would you still want a marquee option like an Anderson, or a Tchouameni, or Tonali or you fine with these group of players you could tell me but also give reasons as to why it might or might not work.
Ederson straight into starting 11???
Why is the feeling around the potential signing of Ederson not as I expected. I personally believe that with the not so great quality of players we have currently, especially in the midfield, Ederson would indeed offer even the slightest bit of upgrade and control and also with the fact that we need players (quantity) for rotation as we have more competitions.
