VerifiedKylea Henseler’s Biography
Western Colorado-based news and feature journalist with four years of experience in writing, two in editing and an four of making stories while writing stories. Case in point; biking down a major road to get to one of Miami's oldest sex shops for an interview, personally testing some of Colorado's most famous mountain biking and hiking trails, etc.
I'm currently reporting for the Montrose Daily Press, which serves readers through print and digital content in a mountain gateway community. With a small team running our news outlets, my beats are wide-ranging and I cover outdoors, entertainment, business, education and more, as well as contributing to newsletter and social media copywriting.
I previously covered rural government with the Ouray County Plaindealer, in partnership with Report For America. Before that, I reported on tourism, real estate, business and Miami Beach government for Miami Today, where I also ran the company's Facebook, X and LinkedIn profiles.
Some of my favorite work and editing experience came from my 3-year stint as a reporter, Health and Wellness and, finally, Executive editor with the University of Miami's Distraction Magazine, where I ultimately oversaw all copy in our print and digital magazine and managed a team of six editors and over 20 writers covering Miami lifestyle.
